About Osney

Osney Town is a community of around 300 households, on an island surrounded by the River Thames and smaller streams. It lies off the Botley Road, to the west of the railway station, about 15 minutes’ walk from the centre of Oxford.

The island can be accessed by just one road bridge and three foot bridges, which makes it relatively quiet. It is densely populated with mostly Victorian terraces but there are pleasant towpath walks and nearby parks and recreation areas. The population is an eclectic mix of social class, ethnicity and age. There is a neighbourly atmosphere, and two lively pubs.

Osney Town is an Article 4 conservation area with some limits on development to preserve its character.
